Suzuki Elders’ Council Executive
Governance and Leadership
The Executive of the Suzuki Elders consists of the Council Chair, Past Chair, Treasurer and the Secretary. Although the majority of decisions are made by the Executive and full council, if necessary the Executive can make decisions independent of the council members.
Chair of the Council
Leading the Mission
- Leads monthly Council meetings.
- Develops meeting agendas.
- Participates in committees and decision-making.
- Liaises with the David Suzuki Foundation (DSF) and the Future Ground Network (FGN).
- Oversees the implementation of strategic plans and mission goals.
Past Chair
Supporting Leadership
- Assists the Chair and leads meetings when needed.
- Helps implement the mission and committee projects.
- Develops candidate lists for vacant Council seats before AGMs.
Treasurer
Financial Oversight
- Coordinates with DSF financial staff for expense processing.
- Maintains financial records.
- Assists in creating yearly budgets.
- Advises on financial matters for projects and events.
Secretary
Record Keeper
- Keeps accurate records of Council meetings, Executive meetings, and Strategic Planning sessions.
Council Members
Collaborative Decision-Makers
- Includes up to 16 members, including Working Group chairs.
- Takes on leadership roles in working groups.
- Collaborates with external organizations and engages the public.
- Actively participates in decisions about projects and budgets.
